Did you know that Raleigh has almost 100 miles of greenway trials?! Cary and Wake Forest aren’t far behind with about 60 miles of trails each! What might be even cooler is the fact that many of the trails in our county are all connected…there are several sections where you can ride a bike over 30 miles and never leave a paved trail! While some of our smaller towns may not be able to boast such high numbers, what’s great is that every single one of our county’s municipalities has their own trail system, with new trails being developed all the time!
One of these smaller towns, Knightdale, is soon to open The Mingo Creek Trail which will connect Knightdale’s greenways to Raleigh’s system! I was also pleased to learn about a brand new park called Knightdale Station which just opened yesterday with a great grand opening celebration! You see, I am always on the lookout for good BBQ, and it just so happens that I’ll drive right by one of my favorite BBQ joints on the way to this park…Knightdale Seafood & BBQ! While out exploring our area’s greenways, take the opportunity to also explore the many hidden, local gems found in every city and town in Wake County. I know where I’ll be this weekend…BBQ and hushpuppies are calling my name!
