Favorite Local Wake Forest Lunch Spots!

Sometimes you just want to get out of the office for an hour, meet up with friends or take the kids out to lunch. Here are some of our top favorite local lunch spots in Wake Forest!

Village Deli & Grill

1849 S. Main St, #200
Wake Forest, NC 27587

Conveniently located in front of the Sports Factory on South Main Street. Whether you’re looking for a simple bowl of soup and salad, a sandwich or a nice juicy burger this place will not disappoint. Village Deli & Grill also offers Gluten Free bread.
Some of our favorite items on the menu:
Chicken Tenders: satisfying to both kids and adults! Five hand-battered juicy chicken tenders fried until golden brown and swerved with your choice of BBQ or honey mustard. These tenders will leave you licking your fingers, they’re that good!
Reuben on Rye: My husband’s favorite item on the menu! Corned beef with kraut, Swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing. Sandwich can be a bit messy but it is worth it in flavor and size!

Mushroom ’n Swiss Burger: My personal favorite! Juicy burger (cooked just right!) topped with grilled onions, mushrooms, lettuce and tomato.

Village Deli & Grill uses All Natural burgers with no hormones, steroids, additives or preservatives. All burgers are made fresh daily and are antibiotic free!

Dessert: Be sure to order a fresh made cookie or a slice of homemade cake! Trust me you don’t want to forget the dessert!

Shorty’s Famous Hot Dogs

214 S White St
Wake Forest, North Carolina

Perfectly located in downtown Wake Forest!
There are many options on the menu other than hot dogs but in my opinion the only thing worth going to Shorty’s for is their Famous “All The Way” Dog which consist of mustard, onion and chili! Order two and thank me later!

The Burger Shop

203 Wait Ave
Wake Forest, NC 27587

Another lunch spot conveniently located in downtown Wake Forest.
I’ve only ever tried one thing here and one thing only and if you couldn’t guess by the name of the restaurant it’s one of their burgers!
Burger: ¼ lb fresh handmade daily! Choose, your toppings and if a bun isn’t your thing opt to have it in a Boy Choy wrap.
These burgers are delicious and will leave you wanting burgers all summer long!

Charlie’s Kabob Grill

12235 Capital Blvd.
Wake Forest, NC 27587
929 Heritage Lake Road
Wake Forest, NC 27587

Two locations on either side of Capital Boulevard!
For a quick meal that is super delicious and deviates from your typical lunch fare than check out Charlie’s Kabob Grill.
We’ve done a lot of the taste testing for you and here are our favorites!
Hummus & Pita: Chickpeas blended daily and served with warm pita bread (they offer gluten free pita’s as well). You won’t find better tasting hummus in Wake Forest!
Baba Ghannouj: If hummus is not your cup of tea give this a try. Grilled eggplant with garlic and spices served with warm pita bread.
Greek Gyros: choose your meat, we love the lamb! They will then cook it in shawarma spices and serve with lettuce, tomato and tahini sauce!
The Bomb Platter: Juicy lamb tenders cooked in Mediterranean spices with fried rice, onion, tomato and banana pepper drizzled with tahini.
A trip to any Mediterranean restaurant is never complete without following up your meal with Baklava a sweet pastry (they have walnut or pistachio) and Turkish Coffee Arabica Espresso made to order.

Tropical Picken Chicken

109 Capcom Avenue,
Wake Forest, NC 27587

Located off of South Main Street and easy to get too! Bring your appetite and be prepared to be blown away by flavor with this authentic Puerto Rican and Latin restaurant.
Everything on the menu is delicious and we’ve narrowed our favorites down to the following:
Patacon: I love the Cubanito! Pulled pork, ham, fried cheese and topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, garlic and a delicious ketchi-mayo sauce. All layered between two fried plantains (Tostones). Perfect combination that leaves you wanting more!
Jerk Chicken Sandwich: another family favorite! Deliciously spicy pulled jerk chicken topped with pineapple and jalapenos and served on pressed Cuban bread. I suggest nixing the regular fries and going with the sweet plantains instead. This meal will definitely satisfy your sweet and spicy cravings in one!
Be sure to also purchase one of their specialty drinks they offer as well!
