“Difference Makers” in Wake Forest!

We can all make a difference in Wake Forest.

As you drive through Wake Forest you’ll often notice groups decked out in “orange vests” filling bags with the trash from the side of the road.  Often times signs can be seen advertising a local fish fry, spaghetti dinner, Lobster Bingo, car wash, blood drive, bake sale, pancake breakfast, lemonade stand, etc…  Other times there are no signs or groups of people visible from your car window.  Quite often these people are in the schools delivering dictionaries, reading to our  youth, providing a service to our town, painting a mural, volunteering for the many Wake Forest parades, putting on a 3-3 basketball tournament, sitting on a board of directors giving out scholarship money, coaching a youth sport, raising funds for the Kerr Family YMCA, sponsoring a team, helping with the Farmer’s Market, spending time at the Wake Forest Boys & Girls Club, serving as a Big Brother or Big Sister, volunteering as a Den Mother or Scout Leader.  These people are what I often refer to as Difference Makers.
The beauty of this is that we can ALL be Difference Makers!  As a matter of fact, if every family made a choice to make a difference in our town—WOW!- think of how much better Wake Forest would be.  We already live in a community full of Difference Makers.  Sure, I have heard it many times before…I am just too busy to join a club, organization or group.  I have said this as well.  I think it’s hogwash.  Fact is, we are all very busy but for us to sustain a community that thrives and offers opportunities we must commit as a community to make a difference.  Here are just a few options for you to make a difference.
We at Wake Forest Homes challenge you to get involved.  You’ll be glad you did!
