No April Fool’s…Wake Forest is really going to see 80 degrees!

THIS is why we love Wake Forest, NC!

forecast_7day_wral_raleigh-220x165Wow!  Spring has sprung!  And just in time for a wonderful Easter weekend here in Wake Forest.  EIGHTY DEGREES!  EIGHTY!  After spending several Easter’s in beautiful New England in my winter coat it is welcoming to enjoy the great outdoor weather.  And much easier to have an Easter egg hunt to boot!  Reading WRAL.comThe summer-like forecast of high temperatures in the 80s is no April Fools joke, WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner promises.  “I feel like our forecast for Friday is an April Fools joke,” Gardner said.  “It’s hotter here than it is in Tampa,” she said at noon Thursday, when it was about 79 degrees in Raleigh.

And the best part?  I can turn on the air conditioning and make the office feel like it is 65 degrees but still can tell that the temperature is up and the sun is shining.  How?  People are in a much better mood!  I can hear it.  I can feel it.  There are parts of the country that enjoy a very short spring.  Often times not being able to eat outdoors or mow the grass until the end of April or into May.  Not only did we tune up the riding mower recently we enjoyed the entire family at the house for gourmet burgers on the deck last night!  As you drive home tonight listen for all of the lawn mowers or the children playing in the yards.  I enjoy waking to the sound of the birds outside every morning and sleeping with the windows open.  The smell of the spring air in the morning has to be one of the most invigorating senses.  It just has to be.

With spring also arrives the great smells of mulch, fresh flowers, freshly turned dirt so that we can plant those summer vegetables.  If you are planning to get your vegetables and herbs into the ground soon you may want to consider visiting one of Wake Forest’s great festivals, Herb Fest.  To be held April 16-25th.  A great place to not only buy those plants but to learn about eating herbs, growing herbs, medicinal herbs, cosmetic herbs and my favorite part….meeting my neighbors here in Wake Forest!
