What are you craving for lunch?! Well, if you live in Wake Forest, your choices are practically endless! Today I tried a new (to me) Asian bistro & sushi bar called Asuka and it was delicious! They are located at 2101 S. Main Street which is in a little strip mall right off the main drag. It’s in the section of S. Main in between Capital Boulevard and Rogers Road – right around the corner from Heritage and lots of other nearby neighborhoods. Look for the bright red awning which you can see from the street…it always catches my eye when I’m driving by!
The prices here were comparable to many other sushi restaurants I’ve been to, and they have some BOGO specials as well which I’m (gratefully) seeing more frequently. I sat at the sushi bar and enjoyed two delicious specialty rolls: Geisha & Yum Yum…they were excellent! The waitress was friendly and attentive, the service was fast, the restaurant looked clean and I liked the ambiance. The best part though, may have been the conversation with the sushi chef…he was friendly and noticed that I didn’t look familiar so he wanted to know if it was my first time there and how I heard about their restaurant…he introduced himself by name and with a fist bump! He seemed to really care that I was having a good experience and even gave me a little bowl of ice cream to thank me for coming in!
