Let’s Get Out and Play in Wake Forest…

Flaherty Park in Wake Forest

My four-year-old son, Hayden, told me this morning with a sad note in his voice: “Not everyone has a park to play at.”  Well, fortunately for Wake Forest residents, that is not the case at all!

There are TEN beautiful, well conceived parks in Wake Forest’s town limits, including eight with playgrounds for children of all ages.  According to the Town of Wake Forest website, www.wakeforestnc.gov, there are five baseball/softball fields, three soccer fields, six picnic areas, eight lighted tennis courts, a dog park, and more than six miles of greenways.  What wonderful outdoor opportunities await us as residents of Wake Forest!

Flaherty Park PlaygroundMy son’s comment came as we were in the car on the way to one of our favorite parks, the J.B. Flaherty Park.  (My children call it “the fishy park” because of the great big orange fish that doubles as both monkey bars and a bridge on the bright blue playground!)  This fun playground is in the center of Flaherty Park, which is a great outdoor space for Wake Forest.  There are 100 acres with three baseball/softball fields, four lighted tennis courts, public restrooms, two adjacent dog parks (one for large dogs and one for small dogs), a picnic shelter, a greenway through the woods to the Flaherty Park Community Center, and even two little ponds.

As Spring continues to grace Wake Forest, we’ll be out and about even more.  There are so many things to see and do in Wake Forest in the Spring, and WakeForestHomes.com will be here to share them all with you!
