Wake Forest Event for August 2017

Summer of 2017 shows no signs of slowing down and Wake Forest has tons of fun and meaningful events planned for the whole family to enjoy the month of August. From ‘First Friday Flix‘ to ‘Friday Night on White‘ there is tons of fun to be had in the community that we know and love. Check out some highlights of things to do in Wake Forest, NC below!

August 2

Carolina Puppet Theatre

Location: Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, 405 S. Brooks St. Wake Forest
Cost: $5 each
Details: Storytelling, music, puppetry and FUN make these fast paced, interactive shows full of mayhem and therefor a delightful experience for young children (geared towards ages 3-7).

 

August 4

First Friday Flix

Location: Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, 405 S. Brooks St. Wake Forest
Cost: Free
Details: Open to the general public! Enjoy a wide variety of fun movie favorites with an array of genres at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre.

 

August 5

Wake Forest Farmers Market

Location: Renaissance Place, 405 S. Brooks St., Wake Forest
Cost: Free to enter, cost for goods varies
Details: Enjoy a variety of produce, meets, eggs, pottery, jewelry and more from local vendors at the Wake Forest Farmers Market!

 

Purple Heart Banquet

Location: Richland Creek Community Church, 3229 Burlington Mills Rd, Wake Forest
Cost: Tickets are $20 each; free to Veterans – Order tickets online at www.WakeForestPurpleHeartFoundation.org, or email info@WakeForestPurpleHeartFoundation.org.
Details: This event is hosted by the Wake Forest Purple Heart Foundation. This meaningful banquet is open to all veterans, military families and the general public. Keynote speaker for this event is General Douglas L. Carver.

 

August 6

Concert In The Park

Location: E. Carroll Joyner Park, 701 Harris Road Wake Forest
Cost: Free
Details: Together, the Town of Wake Forest,PineCone, Wake Forest ARTS and United Arts of Raleigh & Wake County offer “Concert In The Park” for an evening of fun for the community! Bring your blanket and picnic basket and enjoy!

Action Animals!

Location: Northeast Regional Library, 14401 Green Elm Lane, Raleigh
Cost: Free
Details: Fun for the entire family!! Learn all about tropical birds, exotic cats, tropical birds, and other animals from around the world as Professor Bumblemor has just returned from a safari of insight and knowledge.

 

August 11

Friday Night On White

Location: South White Street, Downtown Wake Forest
Cost: Free to enter, food & beverages vary

Details: Meet some local businesses and see demonstrations at the 2nd Wake Forest Home & Garden Show! This year, there will be a ‘Shopping Marketplace’ featuring local art and handmade decor that will be available for purchasing during the event.

 

Movie Night at Joyner Park

Cost: Free, food vendors vary
Details: Bring a blanket and enjoy a family-friendly evening with a beautiful backdrop of Joyner Park! There will be food vendors on site selling snacks and refreshments.

Author & Cookbook Event

Special Needs Movie Night

Cost: Free to attend, concessions are available for additional cost
Details: Allowing exceptional children the ability to enjoy the movies with extra lighting and lower volume.
