The time has come! And if you’re anything like us, we love this time of year!! What better way than to join many local Wake Forest residents at the Lighting of Wake Forest!

When we shared with you the our Wake Forest Holiday Festivities Guide for 2015, we including this exciting event of wonder and bliss that is the Lighting of Wake Forest!

All local residents are invited to join in the magical experience of the holiday season as Wake Forest comes to life with lights and holiday bliss. This coming Friday, December 4th, at 6pm, Wake Forest will come to life. A 30-foot Christmas tree will be the center of this ceremony and will be lighted by Mayor Vivian Jones. This event is held at Centennial Plaza which is located at 301 S. Brooks Street – the gateway to the Wake Forest Town Hall. Not only will Wake Forest come to life with a magical tree lighting, but also a special visitor! Santa will be making a grand entrance by way of a Wake Forest fire truck following the tree lighting. Imagine the glow and look on your little one’s faces!

The magic doesn’t stop there… From 6:45-8:30pm, the Town of Wake Forest will offer pictures with Santa in the town hall lobby. In order to join in this complementary activity, you much have a ticket with time reservation. You can get these time tickets at the town hall lobby prior to the tree lighting, beginning at 5:30pm. After you get your time ticket, join in the tree lighting and other festivities and then get in the picture line at the time marked on your ticket. You can then view and purchase the photo at CVS Pharmacy located at 245 Roosevelt Ave on Monday, December 7th.

If you’re not able to stay for photos with Santa, there will be additional opportunities to meet with Jolly Ol’ St. Nick during the Downtown Holiday Open House on Saturday, Dec. 5, and again on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 10 am to noon, prior to the Wake Forest Christmas Parade.

No true tree lighting would  be complete without local school choirs. Along with the joyous holiday music, hot chocolate will be served and children will be entranced with holiday joy as well as being able to do some fun crafts.

Beginning at 6:30pm, free horse and carriage rides will be available along South White Street, departing from the Depot parking lot. Grab your hats, mitten and scarves and get ready to be wrapped up in holiday fun trotting down decorated and quaint South White Street. (Weather permitting.)
