Wake Forest Holiday Festivities Guide 2015

Wake Forest always feels so magical around the holidays. From the tree lighting, to the Christmas Parade, and all in between – Wake Forest glimmers with magic and awe. During this magical time, there are lots of family friendly things to do, places to go, and people to see! Don’t miss out and get your calendars ready to be filled with Wake Forest fun!

 

Wake Forest Children’s Choir Holiday Concert
Monday, Nov. 30; 6 pm
Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, 405 S. Brooks St.

This event is free, and open to the public. Enjoy the Wake Forest Children’s Choir during an evening of magical holiday songs and carols.

Lighting of Wake Forest   
Friday, Dec. 4; 6-8 pm
Centennial Plaza, Wake Forest Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St.  

One of the most magical evenings of the year, the town’s Mayor Vivian Jones will light the 30-foot Christmas tree, along with musical performaces by local students. There will even be a special sighting of Jolly Old St. Nick just in time for holiday photos. Free photos with Santa will be available from 6:45-8:30pm. In order to have your photo taken, you much register and make a reservation. Beginning at 5:30pm, you get go to the town hall lobby to get your time tickets. Once you have your time ticket with your time reservation, feel free to enjoy all the festivities and return to the picture line at the time indicated on your ticket. Free horse and carriage rides will also be offered (weather permitting). Downtown Merchant’s Holiday Open House
Saturday, Dec. 5; 10 am 
Downtown Wake Forest 
Local residents are invited to enjoy complimentary refreshments at participating shops and restaurants, horse and carriage rides, school and dance group performances, and fun activities for kids and families alike. There will be many special events and activities offered throughout the day. The Downtown Holiday Open House is free and open to the public.

Joyful Collective Christmas Concert
Saturday, Dec. 5; 7 – 8:30 pm; Doors open at 6:30 pm
Binkley Chapel, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, 120 S. Wingate St.

Wake Forest Community Christmas Dinner
Monday, Dec. 7; 6:30 pm
The Forks Cafeteria, 339 S. Brooks St.

The 68th Wake Forest Community Christmas Dinner will be held on Monday, Dec. 7, at 6:30 pm at The Forks Cafeteria. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased at The Wake Forest Weekly, the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Wake Forest Historical Museum. Awards for Citizen of the Year, Civic Organization of the Year and the Peggy Allen Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented by Mayor Vivian Jones. For more information, email Beverly Whisnant.

Calls From Santa
Thursday, Dec. 10; 6-8 p.m.
Wake Forest 

A phone call from Santa Claus is on every child’s wish list. The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department is making those wishes come true by offering “Calls from Santa” to kids ages 3-7 on Thursday, Dec. 10, from 6-8 p.m. Registration forms will be available in November. Completed forms must be received at the parks and recreation office, located in town hall, by 5 p.m., Dec. 9. Telephone registrations will not be accepted. There is no charge for the event, but all calls must be local.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

Wake Forest Christmas Parade
